I was seduced by the promise of infinite scalability, the "pay-as-you-go" cost model, and the dream of never managing a server again. I told my team we were moving everything to functions and managed services. I thought I was being a visionary leader.

Two years later, I found myself staring at a CloudWatch dashboard, trying to figure out why a simple user login was hitting a 10-second timeout across five different micro-functions, while our monthly bill had tripled despite stagnant user growth.
